"This has been an institution that has decayed, and that is why our motto is 'Re-inventing ASG' - one of the most effective tools we have is our student government."
- Jacob Holloway
Background: Holloway is a junior from Jonesboro majoring in agricultural economics with a minor in philosophy. He is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, president of the Campus Greens and active with NORML on campus.
Former Experience in the ASG: Holloway has served as a senator for the College of Agriculture, the legislative clerk for the senate and as chair of the Code and Constitution Committee.
Platform: Holloway's platform encompasses issues that affect people across the campus, and he plans to work with the administration to advocate for students on many issues.
- College Affordability: On the topic of college affordability, Holloway has a number of suggestions including creating a textbook exchange for students, a collaboration between ASG, The Traveler, UATV and KXUA to help educate students on financial responsibility, and holding ASG's first annual "Fill Out Your FAFSA" Drive to help assist students applying for financial aid.
- Campus Improvements: To improve the campus and student life on campus, Holloway suggests extending wireless Internet on campus, advocating for a 24-hour library and replanting trees around campus.
- UA Policies: For formal UA policy reform, Holloway suggests reforming the smoking ban to include enforcement that provides protections for non-smokers, and yet protects smokers from not having their rights infringed upon, reforming the student judiciary process and taking a critical look at the Transit and Parking Department. He also advocates the removal of modular math, more ASG and RIC collaboration, and educational and rehabilitative drug and alcohol punishment policies.
- Improvements to ASG: To improve the ASG itself, Holloway suggests improved communication through better relationships with The Traveler, UATV and KXUA, more corkboards across campus for student use, and reestablishing the legitimacy of student sovereignty in ASG by advocating for a student representative on the UA Board of Trustees. He also advocates election reform in ASG.
- Social Responsibility: To increase social responsibility, Holloway suggests increasing recycling programs across campus, composting dining hall waste and looking into all forms of alternative energy and how to retrofit the campus. He would also like to offer more business courses in sustainability, offer sustainability education through the UA FYE program and create green campus jobs.

Having spoken with its students, or should I say victims, I'm very happy to see an ASG candidate willing to work to end the way UA teaches basic math. (Continued…)
