Those one-time purposes could range from building renovations to one-time payments to employees, Hudson said, but he said he would also like to see restoration of the education funding that has been cut - almost $5 million in recent years.

Because the money could only be used one time, Hudson said the university would not want to add professors or another ongoing task, but there had been indications from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education that there may be funding for projects that reduce energy.

Even though no official numbers have been released on how much the university might receive, students - like administrators - already have opinions on what should be done with it.

UA student Mary Smith suggested building renovation or technology.

"We already have buildings that are basically falling down," she said. "Why put the money toward making more?"

Student Kendall Starr also agreed that it should go toward buildings, while Britney Rodgers said the stimulus money should go toward advances in technology.

One aspect they all agreed on was that it should not go toward scholarships.

"I don't think you should put it into scholarships, because it's just a one-time fund, and you can't provide it for the entire four years," Starr said.
