Arkansas is happy to finally play in the beautiful new confines of Bogle Park.
So far this spring, the softball team has participated in three tournaments, all away from Fayetteville.
The Razorbacks opened with the Southern Miss Invitational, where they went 3-1, then went to the Metrodome Classic in Minneapolis, and went 3-2.
Most recently, Arkansas was in play at the FAU/FIU Strikeout Cancer Tournament, faring only 1-4 in Boca Raton, Fla.
Arkansas lost 10-1 to Florida International, 2-1 to Florida Atlantic, 8-0 to Missouri, and 8-0 to Florida Atlantic.
However, head coach Jamie Pinkerton did make a bit of history in the Razorbacks' tournament finale.
Arkansas (7-7) defeated Fordham 7-3, giving Pinkerton his 250th win as coach of the Hogs.
Pinkerton wasn't too satisfied with his team's performance in Florida, though, especially when Missouri and host Florida Atlantic shut out the Razorbacks in consecutive contests.
"We haven't had the hitting or pitching to be successful this weekend," Pinkerton said. "But the responsibility falls on me as the head coach to have my team ready to play."
Arkansas is the host this weekend for the Holiday Inn-NWA Razorback Invitational, which starts today at 9 a.m.
Teams participating in the tournament include South Dakota State, Wichita State, Bradley and Ball State.
Play begins this morning with South Dakota State vs. Wichita State, while the Razorbacks open play at 3:45 p.m. against Bradley, following that up with a game immediately afterwards versus Ball State.
On Saturday, Arkansas plays at 11:15 a.m. against Wichita State, and then at 3:45 against South Dakota State.
A game pitting South Dakota State and Ball State follows that Saturday to wrap up round-robin play.
There will be a consolation game at 10 a.m. Sunday, with a championship game to follow at 12:30 p.m.
This will be the first spring tournament at Bogle Park, a new facility that was only finished near the beginning of the school year.
The park seats about 1,300 people and is a dramatic upgrade from Lady'Back Yard, which was tight and didn't even have facilities for the team.
Lady'Back Yard now serves as parking for the HPER.
Bogle Park, meanwhile, is located on the former site of the Carlson Terrace apartments, just across the street from the Razorbacks' soccer stadium.
The dimensions of the field are about the same as Lady'Back Yard, but the amenities are what set it apart.
It has chairback seating for all primary seats, outfield seating with picnic areas, a full graphic scoreboard in left center field, along with six skyboxes and a full press box built to be NCAA Regional ready.
Also, it has full clubhouse and training facilities for the team.
