The elusive combination of hardcore and punk music might have happened more than a decade ago, but the combination is still thriving in the underground music scene.

While the genre has become overplayed and extremely cliché, a few bands still put a nice twist on the same old song and dance.

Metal band A Day To Remember has garnered anticipation over the past year with the release of their new album Homesick.

The Florida-based band mix breakdowns and excessive growls with pop-punk anthems.

While this might have revolutionary about five years ago, it is now redundant and overplayed.

The lyricism of lead singer/screamer Jeremy McKinnon works perfectly with the style of music ADTR releases, but the musicianship is not unique compared to several other bands in the same genre.

ADTR can put together a catchy, fun pop-metal song, but that is where the talent stops.

The five-piece band will not break any new ground with Homesick, but they will certainly be able to garner new fans of the same genre.

With the band's name floating around several music publications and Web sites, their fan base is growing.

It's just a matter if they can take their catchy metal songs to the masses, which is about the hardest task in the music business.

I was just hoping they'd stick to doing pop-metal covers of everyone's favorite pop songs (See ADTR's rendition of "Since U Been Gone").
