In the past few years, Fayetteville has seen its share of local clothing boutiques spring up, each with its own flare. Fayetteville might not be a premier fashion community like Los Angeles or New York, but the local fashion industry still fluorishes. And with stores like MACA Clothe offering unique products to their customers, local shoppers still have competitive clothing options.

Owner Mandy Rogers opened MACA in May of 2007. After leaving her job as a microbiological chemist at the Tyson Corporate Lab, Rogers decided to pursue her passion in the fashion industry.

MACA Clothe is a unique contemporary clothing store for men and women, offering an assortment of chic styles in shoes, apparel, wallets, handbags and other accessories, according to its MySpace Web site, myspace.com/macaclothe.

"I've always had a passion for clothes and liked to have items that were more unique, so I decided to open the shop and only carry six pieces per style," Rogers said.

The clothing at MACA ranges from fun casual prints to unique styles. The boutique also carries popular denim brands such as MEK, IT Jeans, Silver, Fidelity and, now, Big Star jeans.

"Customers can look for unique items and lots of variety when it comes to different styles," Rogers said. "We carry [everything from] party dresses for a Friday night on Dickson to a great pair of jeans."

MACA clothing has garnered attention. The Sexual Assault Recovery and Prevention Agency annual fashion show earlier this month, for example, featured MACA clothes. The fashion show connected the agency with the community for awareness and fundraising purposes, but it also helped local businesses, like MACA.

"We strive to provide the best customer service in NWA by making our customers feel welcome and at home in our family oriented environment," according to MACA's Myspace page.

Along with friendly service, MACA also provides free gift-wrap, alterations and special orders for their customers. They can also be found on the Web on Facebook where they regularly post pictures of their merchandise.

Many shoppers look for a great experience and a unique look that is sure to set them apart, and MACA offers just that.

MACA Clothe is located in one of Fayetteville's newest shopping centers, Nelson's Crossing, located near Joyce Boulevard. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
