But for now, Arkansas needs to focus on the present.
Academy misses the mark
When I first heard word that "The Dark Knight," the summer blockbuster and second-highest grossing film of all time, was left out of the running for the Best Picture Oscar, I was almost as shocked as when I realized the Arizona Cardinals were going to the Super Bowl.
Hailed by critics and audiences alike as the best film of the year, the latest Bat-flick only scored a nomination in the category for Best Supporting Actor. That nod went to the late Heath Ledger, who gave one of the finest screen performances of the last decade, and perhaps the best movie villain performance of all time in his role as The Joker.
It's a shame the Academy doesn't recognize greatness when it slaps them in the face. I mean, this is, after all, the same group that gave "Titanic" the Best Picture award.
Another 'Academy' gets it right
Flipping through the channels this weekend, my buddies and I ran across one of the greatest shows to hit the airwaves in the last year, VH1's "Tool Academy."
The ridiculous reality show takes complete tools and attempts to turn them into normal human beings, while their girlfriends are along for the ride.
So far this season, we've already seen one tool throw a recliner, another one choose a returning girlfriend over the one he started the show with, and yet another (named Matsuflex - I can't make this up) run around without pants on, wearing nothing but what he refers to as his "Matsu man panties."
Isn't America great?
