"DrumLine Live" will be taking the stage at the Walton Arts Center this week, bringing unique renditions of favorite R&B hits, as well as original compositions.
The performance is based on the marching band tradition that was first started by an organization called the Historically Black Colleges and Universities, according to the DrumLine official Web site.
Fayetteville is the ninth city that the DrumLine cast will be visiting as part of their 50-city concert tour. Although the majority of the cities are in the U.S., the last couple of performances will be overseas in Japan and Korea.
The music team that was involved with the 2002 film "Drumline" starring Nick Cannon is another inspiration behind this new theatrical presentation, according to the news release.
Some of the music the audience can expect varies from the "rhythmic sounds of the great brass past like Earth, Wind, and Fire and Tower Power" to some of the "hottest contemporary hip-hop and R&B hits today," according to the news release.
The performance will also include dancing, acting and vocalists.
"The stirring sound of trumpets, explosive choreography and incredible feats of athleticism from the 'steppers' and dancers is sure to bring audiences to their feet. But, the heart of the show is unquestionably the talented group of…percussionists who form the 'DrumLine,'" according to the news release.
"DrumLine" will premiere at 7 p.m. tomorrow night at the Walton Arts Center. It will also be performed 8 p.m. Friday. Ticket prices range from $20 to $45 for the general audience, and $20 for students. They can be purchased through the WAC box office or at www.waltonartscenter.org.
