Dear America, enough about Tebow already

So what have you done with your life to this point? Not only is Tebow the greatest football player ever, he's the greatest person ever. At just 21. Gandhi was over 50 when he led the Indian Independence Movement in the '20s, Barack Obama will become the first black President of the United States at 47 and even Oprah was 32 when The Oprah Winfrey Show debuted. Just saying.
"That might be the first thing he's ever done wrong in his life."
-Brannaman, after Tebow is flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after taunting an Oklahoma player.
With just over two minutes left in the game, Tebow's biggest fan admitted that the man they call "Superman" (original, I know) is in deed not perfect. At least not any more. After three hours of FOX's exalting Tebow, nearly 27 million viewers watched the junior QB make his first mistake. Ever.
For all the kids watching at home, it's not about winning championships or individual awards. It's about how many people know how great you are by rubbing it in your opponent.'s face. You don't make ESPN's top plays for handing the ball to the referee.
"[That] might be the single-most ridiculous thing ever uttered."
-Brennaman, in reference to an Oklahoma player who said Tebow would be the fourth-best quarterback in the Big 12.
OU cornerback Dominique Franks made that infamous comment before the national title game. Tebow did finish third in the Heisman voting behind two Big 12 quarterbacks. How dare he be accused of being fourth-best.
Tebow would've finished the year tenth in the Big 12 in passing yards, 6th in passing touchdowns, and threw two interceptions in his debut against a Big 12 defense, after saying he would love to face one (which he said before Franks called him out, starting this whole thing).
But Tebow's ranking in other conferences isn't the issue here. The single-most ridiculous statement ever? Really? I guess Brennaman has some experience with ridiculous statements, but come on. Has he never watched an episode of The Real World, witnessed a political debate or heard of John Madden?

I guess that since there are no hawgs with suitable reputations on the playing field to have the masses name their kids after, you feel an urge to take a shot at the best college football player in America. (Continued…)

Matt, Don't you wish you were Tim Tebow? Let's see, he has won two national championships, one Heisman and he has been on three missions through out the world and he is only a Jr in college. (Continued…)

I'm glad that we all know Watson well enough to assume that he is Tim Tebow's foil. Also, I'm glad that you can see into the future to know that Tebow's name will be remembered forever. (Continued…)

Are people really this retarded? I don't think that Watson has a personal vendetta against Tim Tebow. If you read the article and get off your knees for a second, you'll clearly see that he is not personally bashing Tebow. (Continued…)

HI Matt: Great column, I see no bashing here, only acknowledgement of one of college sports best players. There are great players of the past and there will others to follow Tebow. (Continued…)

I think it's sad that so many people have to write articles like this, and then try to cop out by saying they aren't bashing Tim Tebow, just the media coverage. (Continued…)

No one is saying that Tebow is a terrible person or a terrible athlete, that would just be extremely ignorant. What the point of the article and all of our arguments is that the coverage and public image of Tebow is extremely biased, skewed, and extremely over-exaggerated. (Continued…)
