Taking Back Sunday brings 'new' energy

"Matt is a tremendous musician, fit in well and was able to play everything we gave him," he said. "He is a great dude, is positive and energetic guy, which is really what you want when trying to replace a band member. It feels like the vibe between us now is more friendly and focused...and we all love hanging out with him, which is the number one importance when living on a bus with someone. You have to like each other."
This energy will not only cross over into the songwriting of New Again, which Rubano said goes back to the energetic sound of their break-through and legendary album Tell All Your Friends, but will also cross over into TBS' world-renowned live show (which resulted in Rubano having to make a trip to the hospital a couple years ago after Lazzara accidently nailed him with the microphone).
"The Taking Back Sunday live show is a big part of the understanding of the band and it always has been for us," Rubano said.
Since the band has been locked up for the past year, TBS fans have not had the opportunity to witness the intense live show. But the band has embarked on a full U.S. tour (which stops by Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa tomorrow night) and Rubano said the main goal of New Again is to "be putting on the best shows we can and put out records we're so anxious to play."
The TBS live show will also come to various places all over the world that the band has not yet had the opportunity to play, such as Mexico, South America and throughout Europe.
While Taking Back Sunday might be a bit "new" on this record, as they have on every record they've released, the intensity and charisma that comes with the band sounds to be what will drive the band to the top of the modern rock charts once again.
