Texas icon and country music favorite, Pat Green, will perform 9 p.m. tomorrow at George's Majestic Lounge.

Green described his music as both "entertaining and petty, something people can enjoy.

"I try to write good songs that come out of my own happiness. I hope I tell good stories and people have a good time. I'm just happy to be out playing music and not sitting behind a desk somewhere," Green said.

Green plans on doing a mixture of songs from all his albums at the concert.

"It will be something like half old and half new. I like to play it by the seat of my pants and keep things fresh," Green said.

Sophomore Lauren Wild can vouch for Green's popularity. A native to Texas, Wild has been going to Pat Green concerts since she was a freshman in high school.

"Pat Green is more of a family affair. His music is for all ages; even my parents listen to it," Wild said.

Wild said she enjoys the concerts because they promote the Texas western style.

"I like dressing up, wearing my cowboy boots, and singing along with all the songs," she said.

"UA students should definitely try out Pat Green. He is great at singing and entertaining and he really keeps the crowd going."

This past year, Green was selected to tour with Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban - both of whom were reigning "Entertainer of the Year" artists at the time.

Green also has a new album called What I'm For, to be released in January. The producer of the album has worked with big names including Keith Urban.

"This is my favorite album by far. I'm glad that now I'm getting to run with the big guys," Green said.

After playing for 13 years, Green is up for Entertainer of the Year for the 2008 Country Music Awards.

"The music scene is very difficult to have success in because everyone's trying to get out there but I am blessed to be doing what I love," Green said.
