Dinner gone green at Smiling Jack's

With organic and "going green" being so haute in American culture these days, we here at High on the Hog decided we would give it a shot, too. And with the help of some readers, we found just the spot to do so.
At Smiling Jack's (or Smilin' Jack's, depending on where you see the name), they serve fresh and organic food that will make you feel healthy. Needless to say, this was uncharted territory for this fearless eater. Logically thinking, the food has to be good.
It's basically the stuff you put on a hamburger to make it taste better, minus the burger. Rest assured, avid carnivores, they do have dishes with meat at Smiling Jack's. For my meal, I chose the Sonoma sandwich. It comes with tomato, mozzarella, balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and prosciutto on ciabatta bread. My friend opted for KC's Favorite - which was an "everything bagel" with carrots, tomato, dill cream cheese, sprouts, cucumber and onion.
Both entrées were served with two slices of fresh pineapple and a slice of pickled okra. Clearly, this was different from a burger-with-fries type of meal. But in the end, I had had plenty to eat, despite my stomach's insatiable pleas for more food. Plus, I had some sort of cool "earthy" and healthy feeling.
The Sonoma was good, although I wish the bread would have been softer. Honestly, I could have done without the prosciuotto. Maybe I'm turning over a new leaf - almost literally. My friend enjoyed KC's Favorite without complaint.
I would have to turn over several new leaves before I got to that point, though. Until then, I will just take her word. So, despite my claim of having had enough to eat after the sandwich, I decided to make a second trip to the counter.
Trust me, I do it all for you.
I ordered a side of hummus with pita to see how Jack fares compared to other local places, and also to let my previously un-hummused friend be hummused.
We also shared a deliciously crumbly chocolate chip and oatmeal cookie, and I ordered one of their popular smoothies, which came with locally made honey, organic yogurt, bananas and strawberries.
