Magic Johnson visits UA, tells of life experiences

Johnson answered some questions from the audience, as well, agreeing to read a book by one of the students and giving out his shoe size.
"He was really laid-back and polite," said Jeff Millard, a freshman business major.
Millard said his favorite part of Johnson's presentation was when a graduate tried to give him a poster that he had kept for 33 years, but Johnson merely autographed it and refused to accept it.
"He involved the audience and kept it interesting," said Alex Moffe, a freshman journalism major who came to the speech with a group of pledges.
Johnson's honors include five national championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, three MVP awards, 12 NBA All-Star games, a gold medal at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, and induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He is currently vice president and part-owner of the Los Angeles Lakers.
The MJF has awarded more than $1.1 million to community-based organizations that focus on HIV/AIDS education and prevention, established four HIV/AIDS clinics and has co-created the award-winning "I Stand With Magic" campaign to end HIV/AIDS in the black community, according to the Web site.
Magic also has has written several books about his life.
