Homecoming queen nominees up for election

"It's a great honor to just be nominated, Boyd said. "I just want people to know that you don't have to be some certain kind of person - you can come to the university and be in whatever groups you want and these kinds of opportunities can still come to you."
Daniel is co-president of Greek Life Facilitators, a member of Delta Delta Delta, vice president of Recruitment for Panhellenic Council and the founder of the Anti-Tobacco Coalition, a group dedicated to supporting the UA tobacco policy and educating students on campus about the policy.
Daniel is used to being on the field at every game, as she is PorkChop, the school mascot in charge of exciting the crowd at games.
"It's really awesome to be able to represent my university on the field in front of our crowd," Daniel said. "It will be my first appearance on the field without my face covered up."
Daniel said she never expected to get this far in the nomination process.
"This process is incredible," she said. "I was really shocked because there was an amazing group of girls in the top 20."
Greer is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta and was nominated by NPHC, for which she is the scholarship chair. She was a student coordinator for R.O.C.K. Camp and is a mentor for Connections, a minority mentoring program. She is also the topics chair for Students Advocating Stronger Sisterhood.
"I feel like this is a great honor, and I wasn't expecting it at all - it wasn't something I asked for, it was something I was chosen for," Greer said. "I'm excited more than anything about being on court because it speaks volumes about what I've done."
Greer said she thinks it's important for students to vote for someone who they think best represents them and the rest of campus.
Swanton was nominated by Pi Beta Phi, of which she is the president. She is a Greek Life Facilitator and a member of Gamma Beta Phi, Lambda Alpha anthropology honors society and Phi Kappa Phi honors society. She is also on the dean's and chancellor's lists every semester.
