Those familiar with David Hewson's previous work ("The Seventh Sacrament") will already know and love Nic Costa, Leo Falcone and company in this crack detective squad from Rome. But in "The Garden of Evil," they come across a scene more shocking than they have ever faced. Deep in the heart of Rome, they uncover a double murder that shockingly depicts what appears to be an unknown Caravaggio painting.
The hunt is on and when Costa loses his most beloved treasure in the quest, the fight for justice becomes very personal. Although the identity of the killer becomes quickly apparent, the difficulty the team finds is proving his guilt.
In a fast paced and very historically informative book, Hewson delivers another excellent insight into Rome, its culture, history, and art. Some readers might find the content a little excessive. Detective fans, however, will enjoy the many different characters within its pages.

Nobody stole my Caravaggio, Jason - I made it up! That's the joy of fiction... Thanks for the kind review Timothy - glad you liked the book.
