The Arkansas Razorbacks (9-1, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) are riding an eight game winning streak heading into this weekend's competition at SEC opponents Georgia (2-7-1, 0-1-1) and Tennessee (3-7, 0-2).
The Razorbacks won both games in their opening weekend of SEC play against Ole Miss and Mississippi State, making the Razorbacks the only undefeated team in SEC road games.
Arkansas head coach Gordon Henderson said he was impressed with the Mississippi State game, as many members of the team were recovering from a stomach virus.
"An even better result, from my standpoint, was the win against Mississippi State," Henderson said. "We had a stomach virus that ran rampant through our team. We had some in the ER. They were very, very sick. I think there were eight of them."
"We came out [against Arkansas] and played really well over much of the first half," said Mississippi State head coach Neil Macdonald. "Our defense made some big plays for us, but we just couldn't get the ball in the net."
Beth McVean was the lone scorer in Sunday's game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and is now tied for third in scoring this season.
Britini Williams contributed to the team's wins this weekend with six saves and two more shutouts for the Razorbacks.
Lindsay Patterson joined Kelly O'Connor in a tie for second in the SEC in goals scored this season, netting her fifth goal of the season against Ole Miss.
Kathleen Paulsen also delivered one of two goals in the game against Ole Miss.
Ole Miss head coach Steve Holeman said the Razorbacks possess firepower on offense.
"Arkansas is a good team," Holeman said. "They possess the ball extremely well and they scored two nice goals."
"We played with a lot of intensity and put them under lots of pressure. We definitely played well enough to win, but we missed our chances; we had a one-on-one with [Arkansas'] keeper and hit it wide, and we can't have those missed opportunities if we're going to come out with a victory."
