Herzberg said the challenge in bringing this production to stage is "finding the right balance between the humor of the piece and the heart of the piece. It would be easy to go much further in either direction, but I am very happy with the combination we have found.
"Even after all these weeks of rehearsal and performance, I still laugh a lot and am touched by the work on stage every time I see it," she said.
With three shows remaining, both directors agree that laughter is their gauge for audience reception of the production.
"There's nothing more pleasant than sitting in an audience and seeing people laugh," Ford said.
TheatreSquared's next production, entitled "Rabbit Hole," is a 2007 Pulitzer-prize winning drama. The company will also stage another comedy this fall called "Fully Committed" and looks forward to hosting a play festival for both established playwrights and young playwrights from local high schools.
