Looking at the game film of Arkansas' harrowing 28-27 win over Louisiana-Monroe, head coach Bobby Petrino noticed one thing.
Execution doesn't always lead to points.
"We spent yesterday evaluating the video of the game, and it's kind of like I said after the game, we came out in the first quarter and we were executing the offense and defense," Petrino said. "We moved the ball, but didn't get points. That was certainly something that was a concern of mine.
"You look at the first half stats and the number of rushes and the number of carries, the yardage we had we should've been up by 14 or 21 points and we weren't. That always comes back to haunt you."
It almost came back to haunt the Hogs against the Warhawks.
ULM marched down the field after Arkansas took a one-point lead, but Jeremy Gener's field goal attempt flew wide of the target.
Petrino said he was proud of the way the team held together during the waning minutes of the game, but there's still plenty of room for the team to improve.
"Our young guys, our freshmen guys are getting better," Petrino said. "They learned a lot the last two games. They're grades were higher. We played harder. We played faster and we won the game and that's the most important thing; that we came away with the win."
The Razorbacks are ranked last in the Southeastern Conference in turnovers, but Petrino said it hasn't been due to a lack of opportunities.
"We just have to work harder on making the plays and when we're in a position to make the plays, we have to make the plays," Petrino said. "A lot of times turnovers come in bunches. I'm being positive. They're going to start coming our way and we'll keep taking care of the ball."
Petrino said there have been six forced fumbles the Razorbacks haven't been able to come up with, to go along with four dropped interceptions.
Another area of concern for Arkansas is defense in the red zone, Petrino said.
The Warhawks scored on all three of their trips to red zone last week.
