Changes will lead to exciting year on the Hill

And after an up-and-down season for a Diamond Hog team picked by several publications to finish last in their division, head coach Dave Van Horn said this summer that the 2009 team will be better, despite the loss of Forsythe, sluggers Aaron Murphree and Jeff Nutt and pitcher Cliff Springston to the MLB Draft.
Two current Razorbacks were named All-Stars in the Cape Cod League and several others have played well in summer baseball leagues. Arkansas should compete again with the best of the Southeastern Conference next season.
If there's one thing the powers-that-be at Arkansas have made clear, it's that the Razorbacks will be serious competitors over an extended period of time on a national level. Recent history has shown that a .500 record in the best football conference in the country isn't good enough by itself. One-and-done appearances in March Madness isn't acceptable either.
Improper behavior off-the-field isn't being tolerated either, evident by the number of athletes who have been suspended or kicked off their respective teams and the "Be accountable" signs that now hang in the football locker room.
While the real impact of the recent changes in the athletic department won't be known years from now, there's no doubt a lot is happening on the Hill.
