Hugo's, on the square, has been a popular hangout for students since 1977.

With the stress of moving in and starting life afresh in a new city, many students feel the pangs of hunger.

And while there is an overabundance of restaurants in the Northwest Arkansas area, knowing where to go can be a challenge.

Fortunately for UA students, there are numerous exquisite eateries lying just down the road from campus.

Being in Fayetteville offer students the best of both worlds: the metropolitan city with national chains and the funky charm that is unique.

To help out new students, or those who are just afraid to try new things, here is a brief little snapshot of how the Hogs eat.

Pizza

Pizza is possibly the most important staple in a college student's diet and, fortunately, for UA students, this town has its fair share of pizzerias.

Featuring almost all of the national chains students are used to seeing, Fayetteville also has numerous local favorites.

A short walk to Dickson Street will land students at Geno's Pizza by the slice. Here, they serve it up, as the name suggests, by the slice. Meal prices typically range from $4 to $8 dollars. On Thursdays and Sundays, Geno's offers a dollar for each slice.

Just further down the road, students can find another favorite, U.S. Pizza Company. Live music and a large dining room provide a fun atmosphere here.

On College Avenue, Tim's Pizza stays busy serving up more piping hot pizzas that please the palettes of Fayetteville residents.

Sub Sandwiches

Whenever UA students feel the need to go elsewhere to get a sub, they don't have to go very far. Two of the Razorbacks' favorite sub shops will even deliver.

Jimmy John's is one of the most popular food shops in town because they are quick and they deliver. Located in the middle of Dickson, Jimmy John's has a nice menu with high quality foods.

Loafin' Joe's also delivers and serves up excellent subs, offering a range of sandwiches from the Ragin' Cajun Club to the traditional meatball treat. In addition to sandwiches, pizza is another of Loafin' Joe's specialties, along with their homemade potato chips and other sides.

American

When the Hogs are hankering for a hamburger, one of the most popular places in town is Hugo's. Located underground on the Square, the cavernous atmosphere of the restaurant is unique and entertaining.

Mmmm, mmmmm, I'm hungry for lunch now. We still try to eat at Penguin Ed's (or B&B BBQ as it was known back in my U of A days)almost everytime we make it back to Fayetteville. (Continued…)
