"Fading Traces - Postscripts from a Landscape of Memory" premiered 1998 at Nyon Documentary Film Festival and was awarded with the Film Award of the City of Zurich 1998," according to fadingtraces.com

Deuber is from Switzerland and grew up in Zurich. He studied German literature, history and philosophy in Berlin and Zurich. He's a journalist and freelance filmmaker.

He worked in film and TV in Switzerland. However, he's primarily known for his documentary films, Hoyer said.

"Dr. Walo Deuber is currently touring US college campuses, in Montana, UC Berkeley, Cal State Long Beach, Pomona College, a few other California campuses, and then he is coming to the  University of Arkansas," Hoyer said.

"At some campuses he is showing his film 'Ricordare Anna,'  which is about a young Swiss woman who contracts AIDS in the early 1980s from her fiancé, and her father who is coming to terms with her life, and  his memory of her. This is such a tremendous visit for [Deuber] and for us," she said.
