Holloway said the administration is not listening to students, and students feel disenfranchised.
"It is not good enough for the administration to hand a Constitution to us and say it's ratified," he said. "That's not democracy."
The first issue raised at the debate was the need to improve safety measures on campus.
The university needs to improve lighting during night and create an automated text message to alert students of an emergency, Ritchie said.
Ford advocated improved lighting and the text-message idea along with keeping the library open 24 hours a day.
Holloway said he wants to lower fees at the Harmon Parking Deck so people could park there and not have to walk a long way to get to their cars at night. He also thinks the campus should have an emergency plan, he said.
Candidates for vice president, secretary and treasurer also participated in the debate.
The vice-presidential candidates presented their ideas for governing and gave their qualifications for the job.
Ashley Dee Davidson said she has experience planning big events from the positions she held in her sorority. She thinks the biggest issue on campus is the rise of tuitions and student fees, she said.
In addition, Davidson believes Fulbright College needs more funding, and the university needs to hire more faculty members. As vice president, Davidson said she would strive to educate students about the issues ASG considers.
This is a problem that is very easy to fix," Davidson said.
DeShon Wilson wants the library open 24 hours, wireless Internet throughout campus and lower tuition. He also hopes to get more people involved in student events so they will want to remain at the university.
Wilson also wants to promote scholarships and grants to help people afford college, and he thinks the UA Executive Council should be set up so that not all of the responsibilities fall on the president, he said.
Jong Shin advocated the UA student poll proposed by Ford and wants to make ASG more transparent by moving its meetings back to the Union, he said. Shin also would like to get Fresh H.O.G.S. more involved with legislation, he said.
