Because of the weather temperament here, you can wear shorts one day and a winter coat the next.
The beautiful weather over the weekend left quickly and brought in snow flurries yesterday morning. Today, the 40/29 Web site forecasts the temperature to be between 40 and 50 degrees, but the wind chill will make it feel much cooler. Although I enjoy all seasons of the year, I am ready for the spring.
Stores all over the nation are stocked with spring clothes during this cold weather, and people are actually buying them. Maybe a few tank tops in our closets make us feel as if warm weather is around the corner. The weather station suggests that the cold will be around for awhile longer, though.
Students can take full advantage of the popular layering effect in fashion until then. Booking it to class each day in freezing temperatures calls for T-shirts under sweaters under jackets. Once you make it to class, shed the layers and relax for an hour, then it is back into the cold.
States further north might think our weather is warm right now, but the nature of this beautiful state calls for people to be outside enjoying the weather. With the right gear and the sun still shining, you can make the most out of each day, even in February.
"Beanies keep your head and ears warm while looking good, too," said JC Conklin, a UA landscape architecture major.
Winter accessories such as scarves, hats, mittens, gloves and boots can spice up any outfit in this weather. Bundling up for a hike across campus can be quite stylish.
Even males who generally don't like to admit their appreciation for fashion seem to enjoy the touch of a cute hat or hoodie with a casual outfit.
It is nice to be able to wear a plain shirt and jeans, then complete the look with a colorful scarf or pair of gloves. Boots are also very versatile because they keep you warm while being comfortable and stylish this season.
Can't wait for the warm weather? I am almost burnt out on sweaters and turtlenecks, so I wear something I would wear in warm weather, then cover it up with a jacket and maybe a few accessories. Another perk of the winter style is that while we still need these accessories, they are on sale now. Check out a few local stores and you are sure to find some great deals on great clothes.
In the spirit of spring clothes, UA spring break is just a few weeks away. Swimsuit catalogs have been out for months and store racks are full of shorts and tank tops. It won't hurt to rush the season a little bit. The beach is a popular spot among college students and you need to be prepared. Maybe when we return to school, the weather will have warmed up.
Take advantage of the winter style now, but plan for another beautiful spring season in Arkansas.
