A student reported that several individuals held him down and punched him in the face at the Kappa Sigma Fraternity house early Saturday morning, police authorities said.
The student suffered minor injuries, including a cut lip and a bloody nose, said Lt. Gary Crain, public information officer for the UAPD. The student did not need to be taken to the hospital, he said.
While the victim may have an idea of who attacked him, he does not know exactly who they are, and no arrests have been made yet, Crain said.
"We may be able to discover some of the people who did this," he said.
The student told police there had been an argument before the fight broke out, Crain said. There were many people at the fraternity at that time, and alcohol was involved.
Two instances of aggravated assault were reported to the UAPD in 2006, according to the 2006 Cleary Report. The same number was reported the previous year.
In cities with between 50,000 and 100,000 people, the number of aggravated assaults decreased by more than one percent last year, according to the FBI Web site.
