After the ribbon dance, Yuhao Wu played "The Night of Dong Town" on the Bawu flute. ?Next, a group of girls, ranging from elementary to high school age, including Ruixue Tian, Angela Wang, Helen Zhang, and Karla Banks, demonstrated classical Chinese art and the art of calligraphy, which originated 400 years ago, Ching said.?
When the art and calligraphy pieces were finished, they were given to CSSA advisers Walter Manger and Rembrandt Wolpert, the UA Multicultural Center and the International Student Scholar Office.?
Next, Bing Chu, Jingshan Liu, Jing Ou and Qilu Wang danced to the song "Paisley Universe." ?Following the dance, a comedy skit titled "Fool's Gold" was performed by Brett Longendelpher, Ai Duong, Mailena Yo, and Justin Moore.?
The skit is about a man who cannot afford seeds, but instead plants garbage and receives a chest full of gold. ?He buries the gold in his garden, and his neighbor, a poet, and his greedy wife steal it. ?In the end, the "gold coins" turn out to have chocolate inside.?
Ryan Siebenmorgen and Caitlin Williams performed a swing dance, followed by Wei Li and Courtney Peterson singing "Rooftop." Qiaomei Jiang, Ying Liu, Hong Tan, Guofang Wang, and Dongfang Zhang, dressed in costumes representing the five biggest ethnic groups in China, performed a dance called "I Adore My Motherland." ?Then, a Tai Chi demonstration by Hugh Medal and Steve Sharp ensued.?
The reenactment of the classic Chinese drama, "The Legend of Love," concluded the banquet. The story was told in five chapters: "The Butterfly Lovers," starring Keying Chen and Wengfeng Huang; "The Magnificent Concubine," starring Dee Dee Hu and Jose Jo; "The Cowherd and Weaving Princess," which, according to the narrator, is the story behind the Chinese Valentine's Day, starring Cherry Fu and Alexander Reyes; "Princess Chang-Ping," starring Helen Chang and Josh Brown and "Dream of Red Chamber," starring Yarui Li and Liming Ji.?
Jiang said the evening was a great success and thanked the sponsors for the event.
?"We're looking forward to seeing you next year," she said.
