The UA gymnastics team climbed up to ninth place in this week's GymInfo Coaches Poll.
Ranked No. 10 last week, the Gym'Backs moved up a spot to No. 9 after scoring a 195.25 in a win against then-No. 14 Penn State Friday. This week's poll averages the first three scores of the 2008 season and Arkansas was able to move up.
"We were a little surprised that we moved up a spot," said Arkansas co-head coach Mark Cook. "We had a couple of errors but so did some of the teams ahead of us. Our goal is to be a top 10 team and right now, that's where we're at."
Arkansas opened the year ranked No. 14 in the preseason poll but has steadily climbed thanks to three meets with scores of 195-plus.
The Gym'Backs have risen in the event rankings as well. This week, Arkansas is 12th on the vault, 14th on bars, ninth on beam and seventh on the floor exercise.
Arkansas travels to No. 3 Florida Friday in the first of two consecutive road meets.
