UA has too many administrators
For the most part, I think Chancellor John A. White contributed a great deal to the growth and academic progress of the UA. I felt stronger about that opinion before I learned under his leadership the university now has more highly paid administrators on the payroll than actual in-classroom faculty members.
As you might have already guessed, the administrators (most of whom are from northern and western states) are the top of the payroll. Perhaps while White is playing with his grandchildren, Houston Nutt is creating discord in the Ole Miss athletic department and Coach Broyles is settling in to his new university position, someone from our part of the country can be hired to increase both the numbers and the salaries of the faculty members we expect to educate our children.
I would suggest that many of the current administrators would not be missed if they failed to return next year. I would also suggest that many on campus would agree with my first suggestion.

Obviously administration is top heavy. I'm not sure White is to blame for this, but he was in a position of influence. Administration is top-heavy in many institutions, corporations, and business around the nation, it is not unique to the U of A. (Continued…)
