Perez Hilton thinks he knows Dick, the anchors of "E! News" think they know Dick, TMZ reporters think they know Dick and even you think you know Dick.
You don't.
Many see him as a wacky, physical comic, while others distinguish him as a drunk and unruly celebrity, but they don't really know Dick.
After spending a majority of his adult life as a part of Hollywood, Andy Dick is finally trying to set the record straight. With so much gossip swirling around online and in the tabloids, Dick is ready to take control and let people see his reality - starting with a movie poking fun at himself and a VH1 reality show, which he just signed on to do two weeks ago.
In a phone interview, Dick discussed his current and upcoming projects, which he said will help expose fans and the media to the "real Andy."
"The new television is the Internet," Dick said. "There are more things on me on YouTube, TMZ and Perez Hilton than on TV. I am not in control [of what's on the Internet], and I mean literally, because usually [these sites have two-minute videos of me being drunk], which is not fair because that's not how I am all the time.
"You wouldn't like it if there was a camera on you some of the times when you are out partying with your friends; it is not a pretty picture," he said. "So, to me, it's very unfair and very lopsided right now."
Thus the VH1 reality series, which is supposed to be like "The Assistant," his tongue-in-cheek reality show on MTV. It will be a window into Dick's real life.
"I'm going to let the cameras in on everything so you can see parts of me that people aren't seeing right now, and I think I'm calling the show, 'You Don't Know Dick.'"
Throughout the reality show, viewers will get an intimate look at Dick's life and career as an actor/comedian. The audience will watch as Dick works on a movie, a scripted series and a live stage show, which he hopes will go straight to Broadway.
