This year's Bikes, Blues & BBQ festival features a new event that is sure to attract stampedes of motorcycle lovers. Stokes Heat & Air will be presenting a Battle of the Bikes Saturday at the Tyson Track Center.

The event consists of a series of head-to-head exhibitions between two competing rides. Judges are chosen beforehand, but the real factor determining winners will be the spirited roars of the spectators.

Battle of the Bikes requires a $10 entry fee and is open to all classes of motorcycles - Antique, Metric Cruiser, Metric Sport, Pre-'84 Vintage, Trike/Conversion, Bagger, American Cruiser, American Factory Custom, Unique, Chopper, Radical Custom and Sportster - making it possible for any enthusiast to strut his or her machine in front of crowds of cheering bikers.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. Saturday followed by judging at 10 a.m. to ensure that only the best motorcycles in each class will be present at the show. By noon, the judges will have decided the best three motorcycles in each class from the array of entries for the official Battle of the Bikes, which revs up at 1:30 p.m.

In the first round, competitors in their respective classes will face off with 30 to 60 seconds to discuss their bike. Important factors in this exhibition include accessories added to the motorcycle, tweaks made, who built it and who painted it. For the rest of the presentation, the machine will do the talking.

Winners from each round will continue in sports-bracket-style to the next phase where they will battle the participants that were previously given a bye by the judges. Finally, the winners from each class will be combined to determine the overall Battle of the Bikes champion for best in show.

The victor will receive a championship belt and the opportunity to lead the RSC Parade of Power in style. The parade begins at 4 p.m. at the Tyson Track Center. The top three finalists in each category will also receive an award.

Along with the Stokes Air Battle of the Bikes, the Tyson Track Center will feature more than 200 vendors, the ANB Financial Barbecue Arkansas State Championship and trial and stunt riders.
