Where do Razobacks, Hog fans go from here?

Swinging for the fences

The buildup to last weekend's bout at 'Bama was that this one was important.

The Alabama game was supposed to be a measuring stick for both teams.

It's the game that propels one team to glamour and glory, the other to misfortune and misery.

Unfortunately, the Hogs didn't come out on top.

So where do we go from here?

Although it felt like it to most Razorback fans Saturday night, the season is not over. There are still ten games left on the schedule, the majority of which Arkansas should win. A 10-1 finish with a berth in the Southeastern Conference championship is still possible.

Remember 2006?

On the other hand, while we're exploring the realm of possibilities, they could finish 1-10 and lose to the likes of Tennessee-Chattanooga and Florida International. Or maybe not.

The Razorbacks kicked off last season with a 50-14 beating at the hands of the Southern California Trojans, and responded by rattling off ten straight wins.

Saturday's nail-biter in Tuscaloosa was a three-point loss on the road against a quality SEC opponent with the highest-paid coach in college football.

Definitely nothing to be ashamed of.

It is, evidently, enough to drop you ten spots in the polls, though.

Maybe the voters read only the headline from TideSports.com: "Tide comes back to upset Arkansas 41-38." Forget that the Hogs were down 21 points late in the third quarter, and Alabama was actually favored to win the game by 3 points.

But forget about the final score, the thrown helmets and the fact that the Crimson Tide's mascot is an elephant.

There are several positives to take from this game.

We spotted an SEC team three touchdowns on the road in one of the toughest venues in college football, and it took a game-winning drive in the final minute to knock off the Hogs.

No matter who we have to put at defensive line because of "lapses in judgment," we are still effective at stopping the run. Alabama's Terry Grant rushed for 307 yards and five touchdowns in the Tide's first two games, and the Hogs held him under a hundred yards and kept him from scoring.
