I am disappointed in the Traveler for running an article about avoiding the "Freshman 15" and not mentioning anything about exercise. Instead, only tips are given on how to count calories. As long as you eat everything in moderation and exercise three or four days a week, there is no reason to become a calorie counting Nazi, obsessed with calculating carbs, sugars, and fat content in everything you might eat. We all know meals at McDonald's that contain double meat cheeseburgers, fries, and chocolate milkshakes aren't healthy, and should always be eaten on occasions only. The focus on maintaining weight should be reinforced by exercise, not calorie counting. I think you guys should've promoted the HPER building in helping the freshman avoid weight gain. Emphasize all the free exercise classes and recreational activities they offer for students and promote all the brand new equipment just replaced in the Fitness Center. Just a suggestion for next time you give helpful hints in your articles to avoid gaining weight.
