The defending NCAA indoor champion Razorbacks slipped to No. 2 in the coaches' poll this week and are No. 3 in the Trackwire 25 behind Auburn and Florida State.
Arkansas will try to pick up more qualifiers for the NCAA tournament at home this weekend among a field of 38 universities.
"We're looking for more automatic qualifiers this time," McDonnell said. "We need to step it up a bit."
Six Razorbacks and the distance medley relay team are featured in the Trackwire Dandy Dozen, which recognizes the top individual performers in each track and field event throughout the season.
The Arkansas men and women look to pick up momentum in their last invitational race of the indoor season.
"This is it. This is the final tune-up before the SEC meet," Harter said.
The SEC Indoor Championships take place Feb. 23 in Lexington, Ky.
"The best of the best like to come here [to Fayetteville] and compete head-to-head. It's a good preview of the NCAA's," Harter said.
Tyson Foods has sponsored the event since 2000 and began a partnership with the U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Track and Field last year.
"It is an honor to have some of the best athletes in the world competing in our own backyard," said Sue Quillin, Tyson vice president of marketing services.
"For many of these athletes, the Tyson Invitational will serve as a building block on their way to achieving their dreams of participating at the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008," Quillin said.
