Diamond Hogs head to Troy

Cory Crawford

Issue date: 2/8/07 Section: Sports
Arkansas' offense will be looking to improve from last week.

The Razorbacks managed just 19 hits and 12 runs in the three games, hitting a grotesque .194 as a team.

"The young guys got the first-game jitters out of the way," Van Horn said. "They just played a little tight, but some made it easy to play them like Casey Coon."

Coon had four hits in six at-bats, including two doubles and four RBIs.

Jake Dugger was another bright spot for the Hog offense, hitting .333 with a homer in the series.

However, Danny Hamblin and Matt Willard combined to get just one hit in 17 at-bats against the Bulldogs.

The Razorbacks should enjoy the ballpark at Troy though. The small confines made for some high-octane offense last season.

Troy's team ERA last season was 4.17, while its opponents' ERA was 7.68.

Troy's leading returning starter, Clegg Snipes, recorded a 4.87 ERA, but went 7-0 on the season.

The first game of the series is Friday at 6 p.m. Both games Saturday and Sunday start at 1 p.m.
