Coulter told the audience that they were "the most respectful and asked the most intelligent questions I've gotten on a college campus in years."
However, there were some tense moments, even in an audience considered to be respectful, and many wanted to display their disdain for Coulter.
Before Coulter took the stage a UA student carrying a sign welcomed the audience members at the door. The sign read "Ann Coulter is a role model for Barbie dolls and Stepford Wives."
"I'm just making anyone with opposite views, their points of view known," said Meredith Bennett, a sophomore Art Education major.
Bennett, a member of the Campus Greens, the Green Party's campus activists, believes that Coulter "promotes abrasive, ultraconservative, and misogynistic views."
Unlike some of the Campus Greens present, Bennett listened attentively to the speech without holding up a sign or yelling about her disagreement because Bennett's philosophy is "if you're going to complain, you have to listen first," she said.
In the middle of the speech, a security official removed a gun, which was later confirmed to be a fake, from a member of the audience in the front of the theater.
UA student John Gibbs stood up during the questioning period and yelled a "shame on you" to the audience in general, including "I hope you all have fun sleeping in your nice warm beds."
Coulter responded to the male student, who had long hair with "I'm giving the talk on transgenders next week," to which the audience at large clapped and laughed.
The student told the audience that they should be ashamed for "what you are laughing about tonight."
A member of the Campus Greens was addressed by Coulter when he called out to her during her speech, although most of the comments went ignored.
"What about the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?" the Campus Green member asked, to which Coulter responded "Yes in Iraq, and instead of heckling, why don't you read the news." The audience clapped at this, some members stood up.
