In order to keep up with student demands and modern technological developments, the UA has made a few changes in the registration process.
The university began using the ISIS system for Fall 2004 registration last April. Despite early complaints of computer kinks and confusion on how to navigate the system, students are gernerally more satisfied with ISIS than SAFARI on Hogcall, the previous telephone-based registration system.
Registration for Summer and Fall 2005 will be open until April 13.
Sandra Tilley, associate registrar, advises students to log onto ISIS and check class schedules before their registration period to get an idea of which classes they may want to take, as they are posted in advance.
For those who insist on procrastinating, she also suggests making sure there are no holds on the account before registration.
The Registrar's office is located on the first floor of Silas H. Hunt Hall on Maple Street. Appointments are not always necessary, and there are two computer stations with Internet access available to students. Most students are advised to seek guidance from their academic advirers in building class schedules, and
several majors and colleges require students to make an advising appointment before they can select courses on ISIS.
The ISIS Web site, https://isis.uark.edu, lists advising periods, academic advisers, and registration instructions, as well as student calendars, grades, and payment information.
"ISIS is the best thing that ever happened to me," senior Mac Tatman said. "I can just take it easy when it comes time to register."
