Outlawing the gas guzzlers

I think the government should keep these people from getting trucks.
Would it not be in the best interest of everyone - and especially the best interest of misguided Southerners who think they need trucks even though they will never leave the pavement - to impose strict regulations on truck sales?
Consumers wishing to buy a truck or anything with more than a six-cylinder engine should have to go through a rigorous approval process, and those consumers should have to prove that they actually need a truck.
Trucks and sport utility vehicles including the word "Hemi" should be outlawed altogether. Teaching your toddler to say the word "Hemi" should, I think, be a felony.
Maybe America should go the European route and make gas so expensive it is absurd to own anything but a tiny car that gets 50 miles to the gallon.
Oh, wait. It already is absurd.
Today's Tidbit of Knowledge: According to a food microbiologist I know, domesticated pigs do not have the ability look toward the sky.
