With passion, Vo makes it through all

Long Pham, Contributing Writer

Issue date: 11/8/04 Section: News
Sophomore Terry Vo, 19, says numerous activities keep her busy at the UA.

The international relations and music major holds five positions to fill her time. She is the vice-president for public relations of University Programs, vice-president of Gibson Hall, secretary of Arkansas Union Advisory Committee, co-chair of the Fulbright Honors Student and member of National Resident Hall Honorary.

Vo manages to fulfill her jobs with these organizations and keep up with her studying, she said.

"Anything I do, I do it because I love it and I have passion for it," she said. "It's important to me that whatever I am a part of, my heart is in it."

Vo enjoys her position in UP, she said

"It's a fun job," she said. "I love it because it's about the students. Every thing we program, every thing we do is for them and about the students. We look for their best interest and it excites me whenever we can bring something awesome to the campus."

When UP prepares for an event, Vo fulfills her responsibility to inform the community by writing and sending out press releases or e-mails.

Vo's job is interesting because of "see[ing] the students enjoy it because school is about educating learning and growing," she said. "We want to enhance the students' lives here."

She also likes her job because everyone she works with has a positive attitude, she said. Vo, one of four children from an immigrated family from Vietnam, started working at the university last year as the public relations coordinator for the concert committee. The job was very similar to what she does now at UP, and it's also relevant to a part of her major.

"I am working in on the relation part right now," she said. "I am working with different types of people, small groups or large groups, people from different cities and different backgrounds. I am really a people person. I love connecting with people and bringing people together for a purpose and for a goal whether enhancing life or whether in order to change something for the better."
