UA receives grant for new ESOL program

A federal grant worth $1.3 million was awarded to the UA to instruct teachers in the Springdale School District on how to use improved strategies while educating English language learners.

The grant, funded by the Department of Education, is spread over five years and will help quell the need in Springdale for teachers with English as a Second Language endorsement, said Janet Penner-Williams, assistant professor of curriculum and instruction at the UA.… Post the First Comment

A new UA center has taken on the challenge of cutting costs of health care by improving information and logistics systems. JB Hunt building officially opens
Representatives from both the UA and J.B. Hunt gathered Thursday to dedicate the new J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. Center for Academic Excellence and honor a legacy they hope will live on through the building.

New student group questions role of religion in society

Religion
The Razorback Freethought Alliance, a new student group at the UA, plans to question the role of religion in society and promote reason, science and the freedom of inquiry in education, according to the group's Web site.
