UA professor studies depression-era photos
Depression era photos on display at the Shiloh Museum of the Ozarks have contributed important information to a UA professor's study of that time period.

Patsy Watkins, chair of the Lemke department of journalism, studied the photographs for her paper "The Nicholson Photographs: A Federal Relief Caseworker's Visual Record of Rural Clients in the South During the Depression," which was presented to the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication during its August 2007 meeting in Washington, D.C.… 1 Comment

Sustainability and recycling efforts continue on campus

The UA needs to concentrate on remaining environmentally friendly, and students have a responsibility to voice themselves regarding UA issues, a former student senator said.

Black suicide can be lessened through the influence of religious communities, according to new UA research.

The Masters of Fine Arts programs in creative writing and translation at the UA rank among the top five most innovative in the nation, according to The Atlantic Monthly.

Mars research garners UA grad student national recogniton

As a child, Julie Chittenden would grab a beach towel and sit outside at night to watch the stars. By the age of 12, she dreamed of one day becoming an astronaut.

"I can't remember a time when I wasn't fascinated by the stars," she said.

Her interest in the stars and space followed her to adulthood where she has spent four years doing doctorate research at the Arkansas Center for Space and Planetary Sciences at the UA, according to a UA press release.… Post the First Comment
